Onboard Microgrid Managementand Control
We design and implement marine propulsion and electrical distribution systems based on direct current (DC), alternating current (AC), or hybrid architectures.
Our solutions integrate electric thrusters, generators, energy storage systems, and power converters, optimizing energy management for every operational profile.
Thanks to the native microgrid control integrated into our Active Front Ends (AFEs), our systems can manage bidirectional energy flows and maintain grid stability.

Onboard PowerDistribution
At the heart of modern marine propulsion lies the Onboard Power Distribution system — an intelligent grid that manages, controls, and optimizes energy throughout the vessel.
With the advancement of electric and hybrid technologies, this system has evolved from simple wiring into a digital, flexible, and efficient infrastructure designed to adapt to every type of operation at sea.
AC o DC Grid Configuration
Every vessel has unique requirements, which is why we design electrical architecture in AC (Alternating Current), DC (Direct Current), or hybrid AC/DC configurations, depending on the operational profile.
- AC grids are robust and traditionally used for heavy loads and shore connections.
- DC grids, on the other hand, offer greater efficiency in fully electric systems and facilitate integration with batteries, fuel cells, and solar panels, reducing conversion losses.
Our technology enables custom configurations that optimize performance, weight, and onboard space.
Grid Architectures
DC Architecture:
Reduces conversion losses and increases overall efficiency. It is ideal for integration with batteries, fuel cells, and solar panels, offering greater flexibility in component sizing and dynamic load management.

AC Architecture:
Ensures compatibility with traditional electrical infrastructures and provides robust power distribution management for high-load applications.

I nostri sistemi di Power Management ed Energy Storage assicurano un controllo intelligente, affidabile e scalabile per ogni tipologia di nave, massimizzando l’efficienza e la continuità di servizio.
AFE Advanced Control Features
Our AFE is designed to operate in two main control modes, with automatic and instantaneous transition between them:
- Grid-Following Mode (CSI): In this mode, the AFE operates in parallel with another voltage source (such as a GenSet or shore power). The AFE operates as a Current Source Inverter (CSI), injecting or absorbing current from the grid according to the power management system’s command, maintaining a unity power factor. This allows it to support onboard loads, recharge batteries, or act as an active filter, while still synchronized with the existing grid.
- Island Mode (Grid-Forming): If the main source (GenSet or shore connection) is disconnected and the yacht switches to “island” mode, the AFE, powered by an energy storage system (BESS), will transition to grid-forming mode automatically with minimum transition time. In this configuration, the AFE operates as a Voltage Source Inverter (VSI), generating its own voltage and frequency reference to supply the entire onboard network—similar to an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).
Service continuity and maximum reliability are ensured through instantaneous and automatic transition, eliminating any power interruption.
